   Dear visitor, whether you are standing in front of or inside the Church of Saint Anthony, you are about to discover the only church in the world built using the same techniques that, from their origins, shaped the Trulli that made Alberobello a UNESCO World Heritage site. This place of worship was commissioned in 1926 by the priest Don Antonio Lippolis to strengthen faith and ease the social hardship of the poor families living in the Monti district — the very quarter whose stepped alleys you likely climbed to reach this spot — and which, since a notice from the Ministry of Public Instruction dated 23 September 1910, has been protected as a national monument for more than a century. Back to the church: erected in fourteen months and sixteen days, it was opened for worship on 13 June 1927. On 1 January 1945 the Bishop of Conversano, Mons. Gregorio Falconieri, elevated it to parish status under Don Antonio Lippolis. In November 1952 Don Lippolis entrusted the parish to a religious order, the Servants of Charity of Saint Luigi Guanella, whose charitable spirit has deeply influenced the life of the town and who still shepherd the parish today.
